Jazz SPANK the Lakers

Is there anything more satisfying than watching Deron Williams go for 35 and Andre Kirilenko go for a triple double against the Lakers? Not much! Sean and I went to the game last night and it didn't look good early as Carlos Boozer and Mehmo Okur were both out. But...

Deron Williams took over! He made Derek Fischer look older than he is with such an array of cross over dribbles that Fischer was left wondering who he was supposed to be guarding many times during the night. It was AWESOME! I, of course, was wearing my new Deron Williams jersey and it proved to be very good luck. Or maybe it was the Deron Williams posters they were giving away, or maybe it was just, as the chant went many times during the night - LAKERS SUCK! :-D That's my favorite chant followed closely by "Kobe Sucks!" followed closely by "Phil dates the bosses daughter!"

Anyway, as the game started Sean and I agreed that AK, Ronnie Brewer and Paul Millsap needed to come up huge to make up for Boozer being out, and the threesome came through with flying colors. Millsap was a man among boys down low, scoring much needed inside baskets to free up the outside shooters. AK came through with the afore mentioned triple double - 20/11/11 - and doing that against the Lakers made it all the more glorious. And Ronnie Brewer was very solid on both ends of the court, keeping Kobe from having his normal huge game against the Jazz and keeping Kobe honest on the defensive end (though Kobe was seriously phoning in the D, he got worked a few times, which made all the Jazz fans very happy).

Add to that the fact that the big new Russian - Fesenko came in and looked really good, and everything fell into place for a great game in the ESA.

Then, watching all the poser Lakers fans leave the arena with their tails between their legs put the seal on a great night watching hoops!
